OK, in Beta, I took a portal from overworld to the nether.This isa portal I have used before both ways. This time it took me to the roof of the nether, but no portal here. Only a few blocks away were a number of chunks with no bedrock ceilng, or neterack, just a long drop to a lava lake. This seems tobe somewhere near my portal, just at a different height.
