When I play online servers in FL with a friend in TX, sometimes I get stuck in the air and can't do anything and see nothing but sky and few mobs and players. It takes forever to finally fix, but I get in late in the game which makes playing online servers with my Texan friend pointless. Sometimes my HUD just disappears! So I don't know what I am holding. You can't even hide HUD in console without going to the settings. I am pretty sure playing by myself in online servers is fine, but playing with a foreign friend is unstable.
