Concrete blocks of any color cause lag. The more of the blocks placed the more lag occurs. Usual frame rate in chunks (and surrounds) was 60 and in the chunks (and surrounds) with the concrete blocks drops to 10-20 frames per second.

EDIT; Since placing concrete blocks the world is lagging in regards to chunk loading aswell.
