When updated, fences will disappear, yet other fences will still render it as being there, even though you can walk right through. If you place a block where the disappeared fence is located, the block will disappear and the fence will reappear. If blocks are attached to the fence, those blocks will also disappear, and when a block is placed where the disappeared block is located it will change back to the original block.
