I cannot open a world created in a previous snapshot, the game freezes when loading terrain and then crashes.

I had the same description (exception in server tick loop) but AFTER it was loaded in and while i was playing!

          link

          What was the previous snapshot?

Also go into options and turn render distance down to 2 and doing a backup and a load separately or do a manual backup by:

          1. Copy the world folder
          2. put it in the backups folder. You should also use a compressed(zipped) folder. It might say "not backed up" But you backed it up.
