When placinh spawners ushually in creative using /give command place spawners have no title id entity thing amd shoud defut to a pig, they are able o render the spinning pig but will not spawn it unlws a nbt editor os use to gve it a value. prior 1.5.2 spawners efulred to pig and correctly functioned.
