This happened inside a server.

I was building my house far away from the Spawn, and I decided to build it in a snow biome. My house didn't have a roof yet so I had snow inside my house. I put my bed temporarily in a random place inside my house but apparently when I died I got transported far back to the spawn area of the server.

The admin helped me resolve the issue when he put the Netherrack on top of the bed. He mentioned that it was the snow causing the obstruction.
