      What I expected to happen was...:
      The door would open the moment I placed it.

      What actually happened was...:
      The door stayed in an unpowered position.

      Steps to Reproduce:
      1. place a redstone torch
      2. place a block over it
      3. place an iron/wooden door on that block (facing toward you)

          Sure do doors create a block update but not an update on themselves.

          I also noticed that doors don't make a sound when you place them is that also intentional?

          OH so thats why my bud's don't detect doors opening and closing ,but shouldn't doors create a block update when theyr'e placed?

          This is working as intended, since there is no block update after placing the doors.
          Place the stuff the other way round:

          • Place the block
          • Place the door
          • Place the torch
            --> Door will open.
