I have submitted 3 bug reports, which none have been taken up.

They basically lock out users that do not want to use Windows 10.

• The original launcher works with 1.18.2 but 1.19+ tries to write a directory with ":" in the name which Windows does not allow: https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MC-252904

• The Windows 7 official launcher does not like the HTTPS handshake of the official patch servers that obviously should use HTTP for energy efficiency because patch data pose no security threat: https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MCL-22346

• Finally the migration does not work: https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MC-255655

And there is no support on either of these.
