Pillager patrols are exceeding their limit of 5 pillagers. I spotted a patrol consisting of 8 pillagers, one being a captain. They spawn frequently about 10-50 blocks from my village on hard difficulty. This wasn't the first time I spotted a too large group. The area where they spawn is in between 2 villages, often very close to both.
