in pvp especially on java edition swords are buggy in two ways.

-range is longer than axe sometimes

-can attack through shields (rarely) without help from an axe

shields are also bugged.

-sometimes when I hold a shield, even an unenchanted crossbow will shoot it's arrow will fly through my shield
