      This issue happens because your server and/or client is modified. This is a known issue with Paper https://github.com/PaperMC/Paper/issues/8689.

      So me and my friends play on a paper server, but sometimes when we die we lose the outer layer of our skin even if it is toggled on. To fix it, we have to toggle off and on anything in skin customization.
