If client gets disconnected by invalid packet (such as registry synchronization packet from modded server) or gets kicked out with too long message, it's impossible to close the error/disconnect screen with usage of visible buttons. It's possible to close the screen by pressing [TAB] and [ENTER], but I imagine that most players might not know about that functionality.
