Starting from version 1.11, when removing an item from your main hand by clicking it in the inventory, the up and down animation is broken. Specifically, the item disappears from your hand before moving downward, resulting in the empty hand moving up and down instead. This contrasts with the correct behavior, where the held item should move down before the empty hand moves up. This issue is not observed when removing the item from the slot by pressing a number key, but it occurs consistently when clicking it with your mouse, leading to incorrect animation playback.
