In version 1.5 onwards, items are deposited into an inventory slot upon releasing the left mouse button, despite still being removed from slots when initially holding the left mouse button. If you move your mouse during the click, upon releasing the left mouse button, the item will be placed where the click initially started. Prior to version 1.5, items were placed into the slot as expected when clicking commenced. Relates to MC-204095 and MC-206644.

      How to reproduce

      1. Click an item in the inventory and hold the mouse button for an extended period.
      2. Click an empty slot with the item on the cursor for a prolonged duration.

Observations: The item is taken when the click begins but placed when the click ends,
Expectations: The item would be placed when the click ends just like before 1.5.
