So may be a feature request, but if we are migrating over to components instead of NBT on items, then they should auto fill keys in lists ect. Like the general structure  for minecraft:food, if it expects an ID minecraft:saturation, then it should auto fill it. But I geuss this could be a feature request, although one could argue this is a bug because of consistency.
