Context: For the other Wolf variants, the variant type will be applied if the wolf spawns in adjacent biomes to prevent Pale wolves generating in places they shouldn't.
For example, Rusty wolves are meant to spawn in sparse jungles, but if their placement puts them in a regular jungle, they still spawn Rusty rather than Pale. The same is true for Striped wolves spawning in wooded badlands, but still generating as Striped if placed in an eroded badlands.
The Bug:
This does not seem to apply to Snowy Wolves, as many, many, many times I've seen a Pale wolf generate on a mountain near a Grove where a Snowy Wolf was obviously meant to be.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Generate many worlds and travel to many different Grove biomes
2. To easily find the wolves, use the glowing effect with commands
3. Eventually, you'll find a few Pale wolves up in the mountains rather than Snowy. This is because Grove is the only biome that makes snowy wolves Snowy, when for the other wolves theres other biomes that work as a failsafe for odd mob placement issues
