Cactus cannot be placed next to several blocks, despite these blocks not touching the edge of their block, and being identical or extremely similar to blocks that can be adjacent to cactus.
Block Type | Can be Adjacent | Cannot be Adjacent |
---|---|---|
Rod Blocks | End Rods | Lighting Rods, Chains, Bamboo, Disconnected Panes, Bars, Walls & Fences |
Flat Blocks | Repeaters, Comparators, Carpets, Snow Layers (any number), Frog Eggs, Lilly Pads, Glow Lichen, Resin Clumps, Wildflowers, Cherry Blossoms, Leaf Litter | Skulk Veins, Horizontal Trapdoors, Pressure Plates |
Edge Blocks | Ladders, Vines, Glow Lichen, Resin Clumps | Vertical Trapdoors, Doors, Wall Banners, Wall Signs |
Small Blocks | Heads, Candles, Sea Pickles, Heavy Core | Conduits, Flower Pots, Bamboo Shoots, Turtle Eggs, Amethyst Crystals, Dripstone, Lanterns |
Almost Full Blocks | Chorus Stalks | Sniffer Eggs, Chests, Bells, Cakes, Grindstones, Decorated Pots, Anvils, Cactus |
Fluids | Water (any level) | Lava (any level) |
Other Partial Blocks | Dripleaf, Twisting Vines, Hanging Vines | Brewing Stands, Standing Banners |
Miscellaneous Surprises | Chorus Flowers, Scaffolding | Web, Signs, Coral |
I recommend making everything in the right column able to be adjacent (in some cases potentially dependent on orientation) except for other cactus, but removing that ability from Scaffolding and Chorus Flowers. I can however understand the almost full blocks being treated as full, but in that case, Chorus Stalks should not be an exception.
