If you summon a spider/cavespider with the follow range changed the spider/cavespider summoned will have the default follow range.

To reproduce put this in a command block:

/summon Spider ~ ~1 ~ {Attributes:[{Name:generic.followRange,Base:100}]}

/summon CaveSpider ~ ~1 ~ {Attributes:[{Name:generic.followRange,Base:100}]}
