In LAN with my brother when I placed a map on an item frame I could see the map but my brother couldn't, he just saw the block behind (not even the item frame). He did the same and I just saw the block behind, not even the item frame, same as him.
When I destroyed the map I couldn't see, it behaved as if the map had been there and just turned into an item frame.
