CPU Usage Bug?

      Today I was playing MC. When I am in game, my CPU jumps from 12% to 100%. I know I don't have the best CPU(I-3 Dual Core), but it has never hit that high. I don't know what to do. I can't really play, in fear of hurting my computer. Any ideas?
