so I have found a really strange problem I suspect something in lwjgl is bugging for some reason when being in survival I cannot see shadows and or darkness when its night.

it acts like fullbright when being on creative mode whilst I'm actually in survival.

steps what I did to produce:

running the 14w28b build where I had the same issue, then I did go back playing on 1.7.10 release and the client remains unmodified, ive digged a hole and the darkness light didn't change however in f3 the flag "lc:" I see that bl, sl, and rl does still change.

I'm using an AMD Vapor-x 280x with 3gb gddr5 videocard with up to date drivers, and my version of lwjgl is: 2.9.1
