When you use the give command to give yourself a stone slab with a damage value of 2 (/give @p minecraft:stone_slab 1 2), the item shows up as a block with a missing texture, appears HUGE when you look at yourself in your inventory, and, when placed, looks just like a wooden slab (even when you double it). The tool tip is "Wooden Slab".
