If a sticky piston with a block (excluding non-solid ones such as torches) has a sign in front of the block, it will be unable to extend. The sign exhibits an obsidian-like feature and will not allow the piston to extend with any block. The piston will also not extend if it is not a sticky piston and instead, a regular piston.
