After testing Minecraft 1.8 on Ubuntu and going back to the windows version of Minecraft, as well as updating my graphics driver as Kumasasa suggested. I have concluded that the windows version is having some issues with the code. When I ran the Linux version on 1.8, the game never crashed at all and i was playing it for the past couple of hours since about 6:55AM Eastern Standard Time. The Linux version ran so smooth that I couldn't even believe my 7 year old laptop was running it. The Use VBOs option on windows does seem to be having an issue on the windows version plus I can tell with all of the other reports that there are some other issues. Thank you Mojang for the awesome update and I hope there will be a resolution to the issues soon.
