In Creative: highlight a slot on hotbar (e.g. slot 2); open inventory, hover the mouse over a sword and press the 2 key to move the sword into that slot; leave inventory; break blocks.

The blocks shouldn't break instantly with a sword in the player's hand, but they do. And there is no block breaking sound when they're broken.
