I was using command blocks to give spawn eggs but the data that determines the type of spawn egg does not exist.

edit: this is also an issue with all items that use the same /give name but a different item data

how to re-create:
1. use /give to get a command block
2. type /give @p spawn_egg 1 1
3 activate command block
it should give you a un-useable spawn egg
