This laptop is a Chromebook with GalliumOS Baytrail 3.0beta1 (Ubuntu 18.04 tailored for Chromebooks). It has an Intel Celeron N2640 (2c/2t@2.16-2.53GHz), integrated Intel graphics, and 4GB of DDR3-1333MHz RAM. Oh, and an 11.6" 1366x768 display.
My other laptop (the one the launcher DOES run on) is a mid-2010 MacBook Pro, with an Intel Core i7 M 620 (2c/4t@2.66-3.33GHz), a 17" 1920x1080 display, an nVidia GeForce GT330M with 512MB of VRAM, and 8GB of DDR3-1066MHz RAM. It is running Linux Mint 19.1 MATE edition (Ubuntu 18.04 with a couple of tweaks). This laptop is a Chromebook with GalliumOS Baytrail 3.0beta1 (Ubuntu 18.04 tailored for Chromebooks). Unconfirmed
The last version of the launcher (before the redesign) ran flawlessly, and now the launcher will not start. When I run minecraft-launcher from Terminal, it does nothing. I have tried reinstalling the launcher from two different downloads of the file.
Conversely, on my other laptop (also running Ubuntu 18.04), the launcher runs flawlessly.
I am using what seems to be the latest available version for Ubuntu on both - version 2.1.5410.
It should be self-explanatory why this is a bug.
It does not seem to produce any log files (if anyone knows where I can find them that would be great), but it doesn't do anything else either.
- How to reproduce
- acquire one Lenovo n21 Chromebook.
- install MrChromebox's UEFI ROM and then GalliumOS Baytrail 3.0beta1.
- install Minecraft.
- now try to launch it.
Please fix this soon (or roll out a newer version that does work for Ubuntu)!
Thanks
- Zach
