The Minecraft 1.8 version is not producing a fence with the correct fence recipe. this is my list after creating and using the crafting table
1. Cut down tree for wood.
2. Create wood planks
3. Create sticks from the wood planks.
4.Use all areas in the craft table except for the top three spots.

2 fences should be created
A fence gate will create but not a fence
