When a tree is broken or a block of earth is placed, time seems to stop running.
The leaves without a trunk are not destroyed and the barren earth does not regain the grass even after a long time.
As for the item bar, however, if you try to replace what you have in your hand with items in inventory, sometimes it doesn't work. To make it work again, another object must be replaced, the inventory closed and then opened again.
