villagers despawn whether you have have named or not

      we took villagers from a village and collected 20 name tags and over a course of 24hrs to 2 days tops all of our named villagers despawned from our base there was no way to catch it in the act but we new zombies could not to them because we torched up every single block and i am veteran when it comes to minecraft i have been playing it for ten years at least because i own java edition as well! this was not happening till you guys implemented the new caves update so plz help us out
