**I logged onto the 1.18 beta and was trying to adjust my settings, however the sensitivity slider seems to only effect horizontal movements from the player and not vertical, thus leading to slow horizontal movement and fast vertical movement at the same time.

Update: OK so that's not entirely true upon further testing, however the proportion of speed seems to be different than in 1.17 between horizontal and vertical movement
