Imported skin packs are not functioning for practical game use. The interface for choosing character skins lets you select them perfectly, but they never save in the Dressing Room, and therefore don't show up in-game.

      How to reproduce:
      1 - Open Minecraft.
2 - Import a skin pack if you don't have one, a mcpack file. This should work fine.
3 - Go to the "Dressing Room" (used to be called "Profile").
4 - Select "Edit Character" or "Create Character". Doesn't matter which.
5 - Click to the second tab ("Classic Skins") and look under owned.
6 - Select a skin from your imported skin pack and press equip.
7 - Hit the back arrow in the upper left, twice.

      Expected results:
It should save the skin in that character slot, and the skin should appear in-game.

      Actual results:
The slot says "The Character has been saved", with the little animation and all (where the character puts their arms up and spins), but it saves as Alex or Steve every time.
The skins are not showing up in worlds as a result. This makes the skin resource packs essentially useless.

      Notes:
I first discovered this issue after updating from 1.17.11. I am reporting it for Windows, however I can attest to the same issue being present on iOS as well. Both platforms are decently updated, and the problem remains on 1.18.2 that was released recently. I understand this won't apply to certain platforms that naturally don't support custom skins. Also, Marketplace skins and individual skins from photos seem to be unaffected by this bug.

For those in the community who enjoy creating their own personal skins, this has been increasingly frustrating to deal with. I am glad that custom skins from images still work, but that is limited by design; you can only use one skin at a time. I used to be able to set each character to a different outfit I made myself. This bug makes that impossible. When this issue first emerged, it bothered me enough that I literally held a device back from updating, hoping it would get fixed quickly. It has now been months.

The few bug reports I've seen related to this keep getting marked as "awaiting response" or "resolved". Please... can you try to address this? I've explained it as much as I can without a screen recording, that would be too large to upload regardless.
Hopefully this more detailed report helps.
