Paused the game like normal, using the save and quit like normal.  Came back a couple hours later and started the game back up.  Spawned in my base like normal, however my exp level was reset to 7 and part of my carried inventory was floating in front of me like I had discarded it.  My hot bar inventory was exactly how I had left it previously with just the other part of the inventory now out of order. However all of my armor was gone.  A combination of enchanted netherite boots and helmet, gold chest plate and diamond leggings were just gone and despawned.  Created new diamond armor, fished to rebuild my exp to level 14 and stopped the game again.  Restarted the game to find my exp reaet to 7, amd this time my entire inventory and armor completely cleared out.  So days of grinding and mining wiped out by pausing the game and exiting the correct way.
