Unable to update Minecraft Bedrock on Nintendo Switch from 1.19.20 to 1.19.21

We have manually checked for Minecraft updates on Switch home menu screen but Minecraft says it is up to date and that there are no updates available. When Minecraft is opened it still says that it is on version 1.19.20 and will not allow us to join realms or crossplay.

Additional: When accessing Microsoft account login from the QR code on Minecraft, it does not login to the Microsoft account on the first try. It gets stuck on an empty screen with just the music playing and the background swamp biome panning. We have to close the app from Switch home screen, reopen, and try the Microsoft sign-in process all over again.
