I think this issue is reproduced by playing with a controller or keyboard, then holding the place button as you are holding the jump button at the same time. Eventually, the block won't load in correctly, but then it suddenly will, throwing you off the pillar. I couldn't reproduce the issue. Maybe I am not describing it correctly? For now, I will describe a past experience on the same game version:

Observed Results: Block was placed weirdly and I was thrown off the pillar

Expected results: Continue pillaring as normally and reach my desired height.
