Steps to reproduce:

1. Create/open a world with cheats enabled
2. Run /gamerule doimmediaterespawn true
3. Die
4. Run /gamerule doimmediaterespawn false
5. Die twice

Observed result:
The death screen does not show up for the first 2 deaths and shows up for the last death.

Expected result:
The death screen does not show up only for the first death.
