i flew to a monument and before I landed the elder guardian gave me mining fatigue - as the noise of the effect happened my game crashed. when I restarted the game it froze my pc. restarting the pc and then Minecraft again I was relieved to see the world wasn't corrupted. I went back to base and got some milk - went back to monument, drank milk, was zapped by elder guardian and game crashed again. 

it did the same thing a third time (I checked to make sure it wasn't just a coincidence)
