I bought some clothes in the character creator and made my character but it doesn’t display them as it shows. The clothing items involved are “bathrobe!” and “spooky trousers”.

When selected the character is shown to have some purple areas (from the spooky trousers) below the bathrobe but after you reload the game it only shows the bathrobe part and not the trousers.
