When you riptide off a water source while floating (not touching the ground at all), you loose about 10 blocks in height most times. For a full riptide jump you need to launch off the ground, which is different from previous versions of bedrock where you actually sometimes traveled a few blocks higher if you were not touching the ground, since momentum was not wasted on getting you off the ground. Water overall seems to not affect riptide how it used to, and while this might have fixed the slight randomness of the riptide jump when propelling yourself off the ground, it causes trouble for those who actually use it to travel in the ocean and those who have based their riptide usage on not touching the ground (builds that use riptide such as riptide elevators). Now we loose about 10 blocks every time, and the water not affecting us (causing almost some form of friction, like the old riptide) actually makes it feel like we sink sometimes while using riptide in something like an ocean. Riptide being affected by water made it so you had a good launch off the water anywhere, without having to touch the ground. I would like to see either a comprise between the newer riptide and the old riptide (The riptide in 1.12) or just the old riptide. The old riptide also felt much smoother and overall better, so that would be a bonus. Thanks for reading all of this, and I would really appreciate a fix, thanks for being great developers!
