I've noticed that the iPhone won't go into sleep mode when the game is on the title screen or the menus. However, it will go into sleep while playing. I assume the behavior is intentional on the title screen and is supposed to be doing the same thing in game. That would allow iOS players to have AFK sessions like other platforms. Since it only blocks the sleep mode in the menus, it does not allow AFK.
