When you  use the dispenser to give the witch, ender man  wither skeleton or skeleton some equipment like sword, helmet, it does work but  you can't acquire the equipment after killing them. If  the wither skeleton pick up a durable diamond sword and then kill it. It will give you a broken diamond sword like the stone sword which it initially has.
