Have connected my tablet to the cellphones wifi access point and started Minecraft on the tablet with multiplayer on.

When I start Minecraft on the phone, the server on the tablet shows up in the servers list under the friends tab, but attempting to connect generated an error message that wifi must be on!

(Turning on external will disable the personal wifi connection.)

This wasn't a problem years ago.
