From the Nether I enter a specific portal.  I am released into a large square tunnel that bores out of the world.  I fall down it and out of the world where I die most heinously and lose everything.

The portal used to go to a stronghold.  Other portals seem to work fine... this one used to too... I've lost a lot and am hesitant to keep on keepin on...
