When you use the shoulder trigger buttons for either an action or to mine, the action is repeated rapidly for several seconds. This makes it particularly difficult to open/close doors/gates. They simply keep opening and closing in quick succession until you move away - which requires careful timing in order to make sure that the door/gate remains how you want it!
