Shortly after the nether update my daughter has been unable to connect to any cross-platform friends.

It often says "invalid or corrupt skin" but mostly takes a while to load before "unable to connect" message.

She has tried unfriending and refriending her friends but this has not worked. The other children can still play together across platforms, but my daughter cannot join and they cannot join her. 

This has been happening for almost 2 months now and we aren't sure how to fix it.

She has a Switch Lite and all software and system updates have been completed.
