The "Block of the Week: Deepslate" post has this statement:

Mine it [deepslate] out with a pickaxe and you’ll get cobbled deepslate, which can be smelted back into deepslate in a furnace or blast furnace.

You CANNOT smelt deepslate with a blast furnace
