Feedback reporting requires a workaround

XMLWordPrintable

This is my third of three (four, actually, I thought of another one) posts about the feedback site.

This one is very much a bug in the code - I noticed it years ago but only thought of reporting these things yesterday. Here's how to reproduce it:

      1. Go to feedback.minecraft.net and click on one of their categories - any will do. Let's say you chose Marketplace.
      2. Click "create new feedback at the top of the page (don't worry, this doesn't involve submitting anything).
      3. Type up your subject line (some number of "related" posts will show up, just ignore them) and the text of your message.
      4. Select the category as the same one you were looking at (Marketplace in this example). You won't be able to submit your feedback.

Expected result: I can post my feedback and it hopefully won't get taken down by a bot with no explanation (WEB-7700)

Years ago I thought this was a problem in the subject line, like if your subject was too close to someone else's it wouldn't let you post your message. It's not. The problem is with submitting feedback in the same thing you were just looking at, which is what the vast majority of players would do (they don't want to duplicate someone's post, after all).

The workaround: Select a different category (anything except the one you want) and then select the one you want again. Now it lets you send it.

Like I said, this bug has been around for years. Please fix it!
